Speech-Language Pathology Graduate Application Information

Graduate Application for Master’s Degree Speech-Language Pathology Program

Thank you for your interest in applying for graduate studies in the Department of Communication Disorders and Sciences at California State University, Northridge.Ìý

The Fall 2025 Graduate Application closed Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

The next Graduate Application admissions cycle will be for Fall 2026.

The information below will be helpful as you prepare to apply to the M.S. SLP Program in upcoming admission cycles:

The Fall 2025 M.S. SLP Graduate Program Application closed Wednesday, January 15, 2025.Ìý

The Department M.S. SLP Graduate Program Application for Fall 2026 will be open Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

The Department M.S. SLP Graduate Program Deadline for admission consideration for Fall 2026 is Thursday, January 15, 2026.

It is important to noteÌýthat each applicant will need toÌýcompleteÌýtwo (2) applicationsÌýfor the Graduate Masters of Science (MS SLP) Program.

1) The Department Graduate M.S. SLP Program Application (CSDCAS)

and

2) The ¼ªÏé·» University Graduate M.S. SLP Application

Both Applications should be submitted by Thursday, January 15, 2026.Ìý

The link for the Department M.S. SLP Graduate Program Application for Fall 2026 admissions will be available on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

Please Note:ÌýÌýThere will be a fee upon submission of the Department Graduate M.S. SLP Application through CSDCASÌýfor the upcoming Fall 2026 admission cycle.

You will need to be prepared to upload documents and information, which includes, but is not limited to:

  1. Official Transcripts fromÌýALLÌýColleges and Universities you took a course(s) and received a grade. (If you received a Bachelor's Degree at another University be sure to include the transcript or transcripts; this request also applies to Community Colleges, where you may have completed General EducationÌýcourses)
  2. Email Addresses for 3 persons to Recommend you for the M.S. SLP Program, which will be sent through the CSDCAS "EVALUATIONS" portal
  3. Individual Personal StatementÌý(Directions and prompts can be found within the CSDCAS application)

The Program and ¼ªÏé·» does not require the GRE for Fall 2026 Admission.

Additional information for Applicants:

  • The Department requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication DisordersÌýorÌýa minimum ofÌý30ÌýspecificÌýprerequisite semester unitsÌýin the major before beginning graduate study.Ìý However, we highly value prospective students’ grade point average in the major, and students must have 18 or more graded unitsÌýof required prerequisite major coursework.
  • Prerequisite coursework should include the following or the equivalentÌý(descriptions of courses can be found atÌý):
    • CD405 - Phonetics
    • CD410 - Hearing Science (Anatomy & Physiology of the Hearing Mechanism)
    • CD415 - Speech and Language Development
    • CD442 - Speech ScienceÌýÌý(Anatomy & Physiology of the Speech Mechanism)
    • CD445 - Audiometry and Hearing Conservation
    • CD446 - Auditory Rehabilitation
    • CD450 - Fluency and Disorders of Fluency
    • CD451 - Phonological and Articulation Disorders
    • CD462 - Language Disorders I
    • CD469A - Diagnostic Methods in Communication Disorders
  • Recommendations from 3 persons are most effective when they are written by a person who knows you and your work.Ìý Select someone who taught a course in which you performed well academically, and where you made contributions to the class.ÌýÌýRecommendations from family, friends and relatives, casual employers, and coworkers are not appropriate.Ìý We suggest that at least 2 of the 3 letters come from academic faculty.
  • Applicants should not need to contact the Department Office regarding the status of an application.Ìý Once you have uploaded all of the documents and submitted your application through CSDCASÌýthe application is available to the Department Office for processing.
  • When the review process is complete, the Department will email applicants regarding the outcome of the process. These emails are expected to be sent out around March of each year.

  • All supporting documents must be uploaded to the Department M.S. SLP Graduate Application (CSDCAS) before midnight EST (9:00PM PST) Thursday, January 15, 2026.
  • No applications or supporting documents will be acceptedÌýafter midnight EST (9:00PM PST), Thursday, January 15, 2026.

University requiresÌýallÌýapplicants to complete theÌýUniversityÌýGraduate Application.

NOTE: This is aÌýseparateÌýapplication from the Department M.S. SLP Program application.
