The University Corporation (TUC) has owned the quarter-acre vacant lot at 18321 Halsted Street since 2013, and is finally in a position to construct a duplex and two accessory dwelling units (ADUs). On this parcel, TUC is constructing Phase I of a California SB9/ADU project comprised of a duplex with two 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 1200 square foot homes, one 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom, 1,000 square foot ADU, and one 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom, 800 square foot ADU.
The duplex/ADU project was conceived as a positive approach with addressing the impact of highly priced housing and the University's ability to attract and maintain a qualified, diverse faculty and staff. The University Corporation currently owns all the vacant lots and homes located directly across the street from ¼ªÏé·»’s parking lot B6, between Etiwanda and Rathburn. Faculty and staff living near campus helps to foster a sense of community and connects university employees with the surrounding neighborhood.
