Protection for Personally Owned Windows Devices
Virus and ransomware attacks typically target devices with out-of-date software. To ensure that your personally owned Windows devices are protected, we recommend the following processes, depending on which version of Windows you currently use.
Windows 10:
- Go to听Start > Settings
- Select听Update & Security
- Select听Check for Updates
- Install any available updates
Windows 8:
- Go to听Settings
- Select听Change PC Settings
- Select听Windows Update
- Select听Check for updates now
- Install any available updates
Windows 7:
- Go to听Start > Control Panel
- Select听System
- Select听Windows Update
- Select听Check For Updates
- Install any available updates
Depending on how many updates are needed, it could take 30+ minutes. Once updates are installed, a restart may be required. After restarting the computer, go back听through the same process again to ensure there are no additional updates required.
